Because Rhondas father was bipolar and her mother was addicted to things other than life, Rhonda was raised by her grandmother (with many siblings and cousins--at times seeing up to 15 people living in her grandmothers home) in a small house in the inner city. Rhonda displayed her anger about not having her parents around through fighting--until she met up with a teacher in the 4th grade who taught her that she had an aptitude for using poetry to speak about her emotions.

Life did not become magically better, but Rhonda began using her poetry to speak about the pain of her relationship with her parents, rape, spousal abuse, religion, and much more. This is Rhondas poetic biography and personal victory.
